Calling all knitters and probationary knitters to join the great Teddy Knit. Doctors who treat children in the Third World or warn-torn countries are asking for teddy bears, as they have found that children who have their own tedies to cuddle get better faster than those with nothing to hug.
The bears are given to children who have lost everything and the children are also given a bag to keep their teddy in - often their first possessions as their lives are rebuilt. A constant supply of teddies and bags is needed, so this is an on-going village church project at St Mary's. Patterns for the bears are available, as well as instructions for making bags.
