Is it just me, or are we being prevented from making an informed choice on 4th May? By now, I'd have expected to have several leaflets through the door, espousing the benefits of placing my vote for one or another of the candidates and yet I'm not even able to find out who the candidates are.
Try searching the web for Bedford Borough Council elections and hardly anything of use is returned. Maybe we only have a single candidate for the Riseley ward - and I should hasten to add that I have nothing at all against Councillor Clifton - in fact, quite the contrary, and he's the only candidate who's bothered to send me a flyer asking for my vote. So, our politicians complain about voter apathy and yet when I pop along to any of the major parties websites to see who they're putting forward as a Borough Councillor in our ward I get nothing at all. Are we all to wait until we get in the little booth on the 4th May and destined not to actually know anything about the people we are being asked to vote for? |
