Air Traffic Control Route Changes Consultation |
|
|
NATS (the body that provides air traffic control services to aircraft flying in UK airspace, and over the eastern part of the North Atlantic) have launched a consultation proposing to change the air routes in the East of England so that air traffic over-flies less densely populated areas than is currently the case.
The consultation runs until May 2008 and Keysoe and Bolnhurst are on the periphery of some of the proposed changed routes.
In order to understand more fully the changed routes, NATS has set up a dedicated website, which can be accessed via http://www.consultation.nats.co.uk, and we've used this to show how Keysoe and Bolnhurst could be affected by the proposed changes.
For example, the changes to the London City Airport Easterly Departures route proposed that aircraft overfly closer to Keysoe and Bolnhurst, although only at 7,000ft or more as shown below:
Current London City Easterly Departure Air Route
Proposed London City Easterly Departure Air Route
Whereas the Luton Easterly Arrivals proposed changes appear more significant, where there is currently no over-flying, although the proposed route still requires a height of 6000ft or more:

It's well worth looking at what is proposed and directing any comments you wish to make directly to NATS during this consultation period. |
