The Village Show at Keysoe 2006 |
|
|
Saturday 2nd September saw yet another very successful Village Show at Keysoe. We have coverage of many of the stalls, entries to the various competition categories and, of course, the now renowned Scarecrow Competition.
Although the winds were blowy and the skies looked dauntingly grey, many people from Keysoe, Bolnhurst and the surrounding villages turned out to see what 2006 had in store for The Village Show at Keysoe. Fruit and vegetable classes tent
This year we were lucky enough to have Sarah Kennedy, OBE of Radio 2 fame (although perhaps some of you whose morning begins with Mr Wogan might remember her from Game for a Laugh) officially opening the show.
There were the usual show classes (various categories for flowers, art, photography, crafts and farmers' classes, as well as the very hotly contested Home Produce category) and there seemed as many entries as ever.
Richard's winning tray bake Jane's wining lemon drizzle cake
The class that always attracts a lot of interest is the mens & ladies cake baking class, which this year saw Orange and Sultana Tray Bake for the men, and Lemon Drizzle Cake for the ladies. Richard Browning walked off with the best Orange and Sultana Tray Bake, whilst Gale (Richard's wife) was narrowly squeezed into second place by Janet Pearson with the winning Lemon Drizzle Cake.
The Womens Institute Refreshment Tent Friends of Kymbrook's Pims & Beer Tent
As usual, the Womens' Institute refreshment marquee was a roaring success, whilst the Pims & Beer tent from the Friends of Kymbrook also enjoyed a steady stream of patrons.
The Pirate Magician did a fantastic job of entertaining the children (and not so young children!) during the afternoon which allowed the adults to have a more sedate look around the flower arrangements.
Many were attracted to the flower arrangements Whilst the children enjoyed the Pirate Magician
